My male is visually a Pearl split pied. I suspect whiteface from the white and yellow ticks on his neck. The female is visually Cinn, no ticks. His feet are lighter (pinkish) than hers. Don't know what else to tell you. First clutch--baby was grayish almost Cinn. This baby is all white with pink eyes. I tried all the possible combinations of hidden splits to make an Albino. If you know (or think you know) how this could have happen please educate me....mahalo

Char,
I am going to have to let someone who is more knowledgeable in genetics get with you. But I didn't want you to think you were being ignored.

How a Whiteface Lutino (Albino) was produced is because both parents are split to Whiteface and the father is also split to Lutino. Therefore this baby is a hen. The spots described on the back of the Pearl males head are split Pied markings. So the Pearl male is split to Pied, Lutino and Whiteface. The mother, a Cinnamon is split to Whiteface from what you described.

Thanks Kim, I'm an amateur when it come to husbandry. Wouldn't a hen from a Pearl cock also be Pearl? or Can a visual Pearl cock carry the Pearl allele on one X?

Yes, you are correct. A Pearl cock will produce visual hens only if he is not paired up with another Pearl hen. If paired with a Pearl hen, then both male and female Pearls could be produced.
But since he produced a Lutino (WFL), then you also now know that he is split to Lutino too. So this Pearl male has the ability to produce visual Pearl and Lutino hens. This also includes Pearl and Pied in both of those mutations. And since he is split to WF, you also now have the WFL who could also be a WFL Pearl but you will not be able to see that. Selective breeding will have to be done to determine that! Having a male Pearl split to Lutino and WF gives you many, many possibilities in offspring! Congratulations.

Aloha Kim--So most likely this baby is a female Lutino Whiteface Pearl without the pearls, is that because of the pigment loss in Whiteface and Lutinos combined? 'Cause I've seen Lutino Pearls and Whiteface Pearls, why would the pearls not be visible on a Lutino Whiteface Pearl? if she is paired with a pearl then they should throw female and male Pearls, right?

Aloha--So this pair hatched two more babies and they are both yellow down, one has pink eyes and the other has black. Any guess on what they are?

yellow down and pink eyes is likely a lutino....from what I have read above it would be a lutino pearl hen. Dark eyes could be a normal or pearl or ??. Let us know! Sara K
