Hi, my name is Cheryl and I started with one pet cockatiel 2 1/2 years ago. I named her Gigi, because her parents Andre (white face) and Simone (lutino) had French names and I thought the name Gigi was a good choice. After about six months, I started talking about getting another as a companion for Gigi, since I worked all day. I got another pet cockatiel, that I made up the name of Jobar, who was a male. Unfortunately, earlier this year, I didn't get the cage securely closed before I left for a meetiing and came home to find the cage opened and both Gigi and Jobar gone. On nice days, I leave my sliding door open for the dogs (I have three of my own and one that is my older son's) so that they can get in and out and this is how Gigi and Jobar got out of the house. Even though I canvassed the neighborhood every day for about three weeks and there were sightings of Jobar, he was never caught. I can only hope that even though I offered a reward that someone found him and took him in, the other option is not one I like to think about. I found NCS through an internet search and joined in December of last year. Sandy Warren has become my mentor and has helped me build my flock. I now have Simcah from Sandy (Jenna (NCS Champion) and Heath are his parents) as well as Gigi and Harry Winston, another pet cockatiel (that I got from a friend of Sandy's when she had to give him up). This past weekend, I added Clooney and Aidan (from Alex/Josh) and Myha, Fiona and Bridget from Sherri. I look forward to meeting all of the NCS folks that I talk to online and learning more about Cockatiels.
