I have had my male cockatiel for over a year and he had always been a joy.. He had bonded closely with my husband and I and was well mannered to anyone that handled him. He hated being alone though and would follow me room to room when it was late at night and i was the only one up...and scream for hours when left at home while we were at work or even gone to the store.. He has a cage and play gym and several toys but was still lonely so we introduced another bird hoping to aleviate is distress. Millie joined us two months ago, a female of only about four months of age. Since introducing Millie Winchester has become agressive to anyone that comes near us and while trying to hand tame millie he will become agressive to both the handler and then trys to pluck at millie when she is returned to the cage. I believe that when you get a pet it should be a forever home and dont want to have to get rid of either of them but I cant have a bird that bites around our children either. If i found a new home for Millie would winchester return to his normal self or is the damage already done? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Winchester is more than likely trying to let Millie know that this is his territory and his people. Try changing up everything in his cage, to include perches, toys, food and water. Watch him and see if his behavior lessens. Also, you might want to spend some extra time with him, not as a reward, but just to reassur him that he is not being replaced. Give it a couple of days and let us know if this works.

Yes, I would do the same things that I suggested. Let the board know how it works out.
