This may seem if not a dumb, but a silly question, but
Can you determine the sex of a cockatiel by checking their ears?
While in a pet store, somebody asked whether they knew the sex of a cockatoo, and one of the staff there pushed back the bird's head feathers to look at the ear & told her the bird was a male. In another bird store a woman was looking for a mate for her male cockatiel & also checked the ear of the bird she was interested in, & said she was sure it was a female.
So I'm curious, esp. since my pair just had a clutch. Is there truth in this, or is this just a myth?

I'm going to go with myth. Not at all a dumb or silly question! Sara K

That is a new one to me, this has got to be a myth, have to add it to the other myths, such as coloration of the cheeks. But the last time I looked the ears on a male look the same as ears on a female.
