TameTiels-- yup, that is what I love and why I entered this hobby.
The obsession started back in late 1999 with an unplanned purchase of one baby cockatiel. He was a lil pipsqueak (literally), but a sweetie. He was purchased before I knew about show birds, so I thought he was "normal-sized". I was hooked and wanted another. Unfortunately, most of the cockatiels I located in local shops were mean as stink. Okay, to be polite: they did not appreciate the human kind.
I wanted more *sweet* cockatiels. I did locate another VA breeder who offered sweet and tame tiels. I got one, then another. I could not find sweet tiels in any of the shops in my region, so decided to breed cockatiels in order that others wanting sweet pet cockatiels in my area could have a source. hence, "TameTiels".
I have since adopted pet cockatiels from those who could no longer keep them and have retained many of the TameTiels babies as pets and future breeders. I also show my cockatiels. Basically, I adore the temperament of cockatiels. They are great birds that are often underappreciated. I hope to help that change for the better.
I will not tell you how many cockatiels I have, however after raising them for almost nine years, I can admit I have more than NINE. ;D
