Just wanted to share about my poor 'Sweetums'. On Labor Day I took her to the emergency room because of a bulge on her underside. They checked, did xrays and sent her home. Said she probably had 'reproductive' slush and it would be absorbed by the body and gave her a hormone short. She had stopped laying eggs around March or April. Shortly after that visit took her to another vet (Bird Specialist) because she was panting and lethargic. He drained about 4 syringes of fluid. gave her another hormore shot and said it could possibly be cancerous. Took her every week for the same until about 3 weeks ago when he barely drained 1/3 of one syringe - so I thought she was recovering. Today took her again because the bulge came back and he was not able to draw any fluid. She died a few hours ago. He did an autopsy and found 'more cancer than organs' that seemed to originate from the kidneys. The insertion of the needle to draw fluid apparently punctured one of the tumors and he thinks she bleed internatlly which hastened her death. But in any case, the cancer would have taken over her life eventually. She was my buddy for 11 years and I will miss her dearly.
