Good morning, all! I am writing from Alaska and am returning to the world of cockatiel breeding after about a 20 year break. I have forgotten a lot and am thinking schools of thought have evolved, so I am open to learning new things. Ideas, suggestions, advice welcome. I did just adopt a breeding pair yesterday and was appalled at the lack of knowledge of the former owner. Cedar bedding and black oil sunflower seeds as a main diet. Nothing else. I also acquired a young hen from a pet store and realize she probably is just barely weaned; still fragile and doesn't even have all the feathers on her head. Not from being plucked by another bird, but just not even sprouted. I am anxious to foster a healthier and knowledgable approach to the breeding and care of these birds here in Alaska. There is a severe lack of education regarding their needs and care and from what I see there isn't anyone else up here to fill that void.

Hello and welcome
Well I am not a breeder so don't have much advice to offer. The National Cockatiel Society does have a facebook group. If you are on facebook, try posting there. Also there is info available on the main site about breeding Cockatiels.
