I am so hurt and con fussed-----I have 21 cockatiels, and I love them all so very much. I have one beautiful male that I hand feed, he is 1 year old. I love this bird more than almost anything in the world, and he was my constant companion. He has chosen a mate, and they are sitting on eggs together. He will not let me come near his cage, and if he gets the chance he will bite me. He got out of his cage on one occasion and flew at me, bit ting me on the cheek very hard and drew blood. I know he is just protecting his eggs, but why is he doing this to me?

Yeah males can be the sweetest birds even with mates but when you breed them and they have eggs in nestbox then its a different story they are like a gaurd dog and then after the breeding season they are fine but most males get that way females too! Its just their instint to protect!
