I Plan on building my birds an aviary once I have recovered some. This will give them access to the out though a window. They will only be able to use this during the day time and nice weather. They love it outside and they need more room. The plan is to build it over the walkway to my front door from the lower yard. This area is between the house and a hill up to the front yard, about 8 feet from the ground. It will have a removable tray to catch any waste. The support post will be 1" angle iron with 1/4 " weld wire for the mesh. The top will be sheet metal for shade and to keep the rain out in the summer. I will have access to it from the yard to place their food and water, toys and anything else they might need. Marie sent me a great list to work from. Do you think a 6' x 10' x 4' area will be large enough for two birds? They have no fear of my other animals, the like to watch my dog and chickens play in the front yard. And the cats climb all over their cage and sit and watch them from the window sill. They go crazy when my grand children play with the goat in the front yard. They go nuts when the goat and dog chase each other. You would think someone was trying to steal their treats.

Dear John, Wow this sounds so cool!! I bet your birds will love the space that you are going to provide for them. I would love to have a large outside aviary cage for my babies too. I have an outside covered porch/sun room that would be great too. I thought of building one myself. As for right now, I am trying to get my newest flock member "Sammi" used to his new surroundings. It seems to be going fine, but Shilo bird doesn't always like to share his toys with his new room mate. I decided to get him a companion due to me working in the afternoon shift. Shilo has been going through this puberity stage, "gosh at first I didn't know what was wrong with him". All of a sudden, he quit talking and singing. He started talking again as soon as brought Sammi home. I hope I have done the right thing as getting him a mate. Good luck on building a new aviary home for your babies.. You will have to take a picture to share with us. Sincerely, Cindy
