Hi - I volunteer at a small animal shelter in MA. Today someone brought in male cockateil that they had found in their pool. Unfortunately it died as they were literally coming in the door. The bird was a beautiful male cockateil and looked like it had been well cared for prior to escaping from its home. It had a leg band but I believe it was an 'open' band - the kind that are put on if a bird is imported or older when banded. It does not have NCS on the band but I would appreciate any suggestion for tracing bands. We'll like to let the owner know in case they area still searching. thanks for any suggestions. Jill

Was it an SPBE open band? That one can be traced by contacting them at spbe.org There are two band companies and you can provide the information that is on the band and see if they can be of any assistance.
