HI there, My name is Deborah and I am probably the only Maltese person on this forum! Unlike the rest of you who have left their posts, I am technically new to cockatiels. My first cockatiel, Tchaiko, (who apparently is a female not a male) was found injured outside and I homed her. She is very docile and trusts me a lot. I have now had her for 9 months. This week my friend gave me her tiel, Kiki. (who is actually a male not a female...figure it out!) Just yesterday I put them in the same cage as I left them seperated at first. They seem to be getting along quite well being strangers, and Kiki is already singing to Tchaiko! I just hope their mood does not change and they will not fight! I must say, tiels really rock as pets and I started to love them so much! I also have a cat and a dog who have accepted the birds too. Thanks for this forum, I think it will really be helpful. Deborah

Hi! We have another Maltese fan in NCS. Check out Sabrina Hull in Georgia (on our judges list) at www.cockatiels.org. She shows Maltese. I show poms. Welcome!

Welcome Deborah. Aren't cockatiels the best? I remember when I first fell in love with them and especially the first baby I handfed back in the early 80's. I still remember him. I didn't even want to leave him to go to work. Now I have about 40 and breed and exhibit. However, I will never be without at least 2 as pets. Are you interested in breeding in the future?
