I have not seen this mentioned anywhere in my readings and definitely want to share it. There is a product on the 'people' grocery shelves by Bob's Red Mill, called High Protein TVP Textured Vegetable Protein. It is crunchy and healthy: 80 calories per 1/4 cup, no fat or cholesterol, only 2g Sugar & 7 carbs, BUT 12 g protein, 4 g fiber and 594 Potassium, 8% Calcium. 17% Phosphorus, 15% Iron and 18% Magnesium. It is primarily soy based, but there is also a TSP (soy) variety that my birds are not quite as fond of. Oh, it is also Gluten-Free. It comes in a 10 oz cello pack and lasts a few birds a very long time. So, the price is relative. I just sprinkle it in or on their dry food/pellets or seeds or use it for treats. The LOVE it. I get it in my area at Giant Food Stores. You can find out more or contact the makers at www.bobsredmill.com. It can also be cooked, but my birds love the crunch. It is also recommended to be stored in the refrigerator. But, I didn't notice that part until the end of the first bag. It does not seem to matter if it is not stored for an excessive time. If anyone has tried it and has other feedback, I would like to know. Otherwise, let me know if you try it, how your birds like it. Bon Apetit!

This sounds good! I love Bob's red mill myself My little birdie boy is a good eater, and molting into his adult feathers, so this would be a great protein source. Thanks for sharing!
