Hi . I'm Mary from NJ I have had a cockeeteil years aago and loved her. Recently someone asked me if I wanted two for free. Yahoo!! I found out that there was a catch. The one was quite ill and died a few days ago. The other was greiving so bad, I had to do something. I had to carry him everywhere or he screamed. We don't have a lot of money, so I got a female parakeet. It has been 4 Hours and they are getting very comfortable with each other. The keet will not stand on the same side of the cage yet, but neither would I with someone twice my size. The Teil is Opal because of his color. The keet is Homie because my grandson thought it was a great name. Anyway. Opal is a lot quieter now, which is a treat for our ears.

Hi Mary,
Welcome to Talk About Tiels. You have found out the hard way that cockatiels mourn just as humans do when they lose their mate or friend. You have done the right thing, by getting Opal another friend and eventually they will probably sit close to each other, just give them time.

I also learned tiels mourn .But my story different . I got a young tiel a year ago . There was 3 in the hatch . I got the last hatched . My friend got the one hatch before mine . Ok that left the first hatched all alone . Will mine cried all the time cause he missed his brother and sister . The sister left a couple days after mine .Never missed her brothers You guessed it I want and got number one . The boys still if we take one out sight of the other they both cry . And they are a year old now .
