My bird is very over protective of my little girl, he is very aggressive towards people that come in to my house and especially aggressive when they are interacting with my daughter. He flys at them swoops down at them, lands on them when he can and bites very hard when I go to grab him off of them. He Always nibbles but not hard at all, unless im interfering with him attacking my guest. He gets alot of free time out of his cage all day long infact, he only gets put away at night when we go to sleep. Is he really just spoiled, or is there another problem that needs to be addressed? He looks like a male cockatiel. Males are recognizable from females because of the yellow face that they have; whereas females will have a gray face sometimes with a very little bit of yellow around the beak, just scattering around. Your bird has a very solid yellow face though, indicating a male cockatiel. Josh

I'm guessing that tiel is named Boogie because that is what is under the picture. If not, I'm sorry for the mistake. If as Josh says, the bird is a maale, he may have decided that your daughter is his mate and is trying to protect her. You can try changing his perches and toys around in his cage, sometimes this will help get them out of the terrible hormonal stage. Please let us know how that works.

My husband and I rent from a woman with two female cockatiels, and he and I have a male and female ourselves... Our two are seperated from hers seeing as I occasionally breed mine. however I am concerned seeing as recently one of our land lady's cockatiels has developed a chronic egg laying problem... I am nervous seeing as she lays one every two or three days and abandons them almost immediatly... She has been doing this for over two months and since the lady we rent from is very seldom home she has not gotten the full just of the problem... I am worried about the females risk of becoming egg bound as well as having calcium deficiencies... Is there anything non-invasive (and not too expensive) I can do? I have had to seperate her and the other female because the egg laying one becomes incredibly aggressive towards the other at the time of laying.... help?

I'm a little confused about the landlady's birds. Are all of the birds being taken care of by you? Based on what you wrote that is my impression. I need to get with one of long-term breeders about your questions, but can't until I understand the living arrangements of the four birds. But I didn't want you to think you are being ignored. Please let me know as soon as possible.
