I let the birds out for their morning exercise and they flew around and went to all the usual spots, the ceiling fan, book case and drapes. All this under the watchful eye of my old cat. The birds love flying right over this cat, just out of reach, but not today. For some reason he doesn't notice or care what they are up to, they so this all the time. Happy, the female lands on HIS chair. Being a brave little trooper, Happy walks across the back of the chair and hops up on Buddy's rump. He looks up with a startled look about him. Then in a flash Happy is sitting on his head. All this cat does is lay back down trying to go back to sleep. I know what he is thinking, don't these fools know what time of the day it is. Then the fun starts, she is singing to him. Off the chair he goes looking for a new place to go back to sleep and she is off to her favorite spot, the fan. Now both birds are raising a fuss and the cat is headed to my office for some peace and quite. Never a camera at hand when you need one. Yes, I know, many will say a bird and a cat is a accident waiting to happen. But with this cat I could put him in the cage with them and he would try to go to sleep if they would let him.

People say it is not a good idea to keep a cat and a bird together, but some bird owners on other forum keep their cats and birds together without any problem. There are also bird owners who must keep the birds and cats separated for fear the cats will try to eat the birds.

The gray cat is the one the tiel landed on, he is so old he has no teeth left. I lost the photos of him playing with the baby chicks. The black one also plays with the baby chicks. From now on I will have the camera at hand when the tiels are out. They have no fear of the cats, for the cats sleep on the cage and go right up to it. The tiels go face to face with the cats when they are at the cage. Would I let any cat do this, Heck no, but I do trust these two cats. They have never hurt any of my birds yet. When I have baby chicks in the brooder the gray cat will not let anyone other than me near it. He is as protective of them as any Mother hen would be. Since this is my first go round with tiels I treat them as I would a chicken. So far is has worked out with no real problems. Attachments:
