Hello, I have a problem and want everyones thoughts on this..I am a cockatiel owner for almost 20 years now..currently owning 8.(mom,dad and their kids,lol)..also own one parakeet(who runs the show)and three cats(yes, they all get along!)..My problem is VACUMMS..I dont know how many vacumms I have gone through and tired of throwing my money away on a new one each year...Seems all I purchase cant handle birds..occasionally a feather falls,You miss picking it up and there goes the vacumm.Im also looking for one that wont break my back(due to a previous break from a horse fall)...so,what vacumm do you pet owners use?..I was looking at an Oreck..even a Dyson..but wow..the cost is a bit high..but in the long run,is it worth it?..Please help!

Hi I have two birds and two cats. One a long hair that has a goal in life of covering everything I own with one layer or more of hair. My two birds must be trying to help keep their cage clean because I am chasing seeds and feathers. I bought a dirt devil bagless upright with twin turbo suction. It gets all of it up, but I have to take out the air flow directors and remove hair every other time I use it. I like it and it does a great job of getting up the dirt and seeds. I couldn't cough up the price of the Dyson or Oreck. Let us know what you got and how well you like it.

I have used just my regular Wind Tunnel by Hoover, but now that the birds are located in their own room, I have a Shop Vac, which seems to be able handle all of the mess that the birds can make.

A Shop Vac is what I use also and it must be emptied often.
